The Ordinary, it’s a review! Hi guys, if you saw my Insta stories a few days ago you would have seen I went crazy about some products from The Ordinary. I’ve received a few questions about the products I bought and where I bought them, so I’ve decided to be a person and give you the low-down on them.
Firstly I just want to say that if you don’t know who The Ordinary is, get your life and check out the website here. The Ordinary is owned by Deciem who’s aims to provide you with a way to create or tailor your skincare routine according to your own specific needs.
They do this by letting you pick and choose products that target any problem areas with your skin. These can be used in conjunction with your own skin care products or as stand-alone products depending on your routine and the products you purchase. The best part about this brand and the specificity they’ve lent to their products is that they are at a fraction of the cost of a lot of high-end brands and open up high-end skin care at an affordable level.
Where did I purchase?
Firstly I want to give a shout out to Samika which is where I purchased my products. My products came in a brown box like this and were wrapped in cute white and yellow paper.
I’m an online buyer who likes to asks a lot of questions, and the owner of the store, Sameera Kajee, was patient and answered all of my questions. So you can take a look at the store here. Samika also stocks products from a lot of other brands like Huda Beauty, Tarte and Morphe and others. You can also check out their Instagram here. Go ham guys!
What did I purchase?
Firstly, my skin issue is hyperpigmentation, that and my skin has been feeling kinda rough. It’s not as smooth as it used to be and sometimes hyperpigmentation has me feeling like a cheetah.
I don’t like it.
I purchased the Alpha Lipoic Acid 5% and the Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%. I googled my concerns and came across this pdf, from the Beautylish website which is what I used when purchasing the products. I’m going to put it out there, both of these have somewhat of a tingly feeling on the skin, especially the Alpha Lipoic Acid.
I use the Alpha Lipoic Acid three times a week at night before I use my face cream. It has a really tingly feeling to it, so if you have sensitive skin this one is not for you. I don’t have sensitive skin, but I felt this one. The feeling doesn’t last forever, it goes on for about ten minutes, sometimes less and the best part is that it’s not a greasy oil.
The Azelaic Acid Suspension is a cream that I use twice a day under my face cream. It’s less tingly than the Alpha Lipoic Acid. It absorbs super fast so rub it in quick when you use it. Be warned, this cream has a pilling effect, especially if you’re using other products, so be a bit wary if you want to put on something like foundation or BB cream.
So guys, that sums up my preliminary review of The Ordinary products but I will write another review in the future that will let you know whether the products really did anything to help my hyperpigmentation. Let me know if you’ve tried any of The Ordinary products and how did you find them?
